Here at PCsupportNOW we have known for some time the presence of false, bad or very poor spyware products that actually gets your PC more infected than without.
We see customer after customer infected with these products and sometimes it extremely tricky to remove all traces of them. Its welcome news that the US has taken steps to shut some of these companies down but the problem, unfortunately, will never go away as long as money is to be made.
The Federal Trade Commision (FTC) issued orders to two companies that produced between them five products that infected your PC with spyware and was extremely hard to get rid of. Although this is great news and the world will be a slightly better place without those companies trading unfortunately the business of infecting peoples machines is very profitable according to Finjan analysts they speculate that up to 5 million machines were infected worldwide with a price of between 40-60 US dollars the amount of money made could well be in the hundreds of millions of dollars. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/7779223.stm |
