Virus spreads via USB Keys

The Conficker virus has been with since January 2008 but is still little known and still around an estimated 6.5 million computers are still infected! The nasty problem with this virus is that it can infect computers by transferring itself onto USB keys which then can infect other PCs.

Trend Micro have uncovered links in a Social Networking site that redirects the unwitting user into downloading malicious code onto their PC.  When the malicious code is on the users PC then it could potentially disable a PC's security or send private and confidential information onto criminals.

The year of 2008 saw vast sums of money made by cyber criminals statistics now show. Sophos said over 20,000 new programs every day that cause harm to PC's were being created. Symantec reports that 2008 it has to protect against 1 million viruses.
